With 600 km of pistes and no fewer than 160 ski lifts, the 3 Vallées is the largest ski area in the world. Fans of skiing and winter sports can easily reach its various resorts, from Orelle to Val Thorens via Courchevel 1850, and take advantage of the diversity of playgrounds on offer.
The area also appeals to occasional skiers, novices and families alike, thanks to the wide choice of activities offered by the ESF.
1/ A snowshoe outing in the 3 Vallées
Snowshoeing is a great way for people who don't want to ski to discover all the splendour and richness of the 3 Vallées ski area. Alone, as a couple or in a group, this type of activity is accessible to all and available for half-day or full-day outings in the company of a specialised instructor. In Les Menuires and Val Thorens, you can also treat yourself to an evening snowshoe outing, topped off with a local aperitif or dinner.
2/ Discover the 3 Vallées in a different way with ski touring
While downhill skiing on marked runs is a must, ski touring can still get you away from the crowds for a while on skis equipped with skins. In a group or as part of a private lesson, a ski touring session is the perfect opportunity to combine sporting effort with contemplation of nature.

3/ Off-piste skiing: discover the area's secret spots
The world-famous 3 Vallées ski area is full of fabulous places for those who dare to venture off the slopes. Off-piste skiing is just what you need! Accessible to more experienced skiers, these courses invite you to get away from it all and enjoy the great outdoors. What's more, off-piste skiing gives you the chance to ski in immaculate powder snow: a real treat for snow lovers!
4/ Try out an Olympic discipline with the ESF: biathlon
Combining cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, biathlon has been an Olympic discipline since the Squaw Valley Winter Games in 1960. What if your holiday in the 3 Vallées was the perfect time to try your hand at this increasingly popular sport? At Méribel and Les Menuires, an instructor will teach you the fundamentals of the discipline, both in terms of technique and safety. Stamina, calm and skill are a must!
Find your off-pisteAn adventure off the beaten track5/ Fun for all the family in the sledging areas
Are you looking for a fun activity to introduce your children to the joys of skiing and snowboarding? Sledging is a must, and will appeal to young and old alike, as they enjoy crazy descents on safe slopes. If you enrol your child in one of the Piou-Piou clubs run by the 3 Vallées ESF, tobogganing will most likely be part of their learning programme, helping them to get to grips with the sensations of the snow.
